More Meals for Healthcare Heroes

You amazing ladies did it again!!! At the end of April we delivered 100 meals to Sutter Roseville ER department! Virus or no virus, our local heroes should be recognized for the work they do on a daily basis. They were very appreciative and all smiles……and so was Sienna restaurant for getting an order for 100 people. They were very thankful for being a part of this and did a fabulous job. Thank you, POW members, for your kind hearts that allowed this to happen! We are all so blessed to live and work in the most loving community EVER! ❤️

On the menu was

Chicken Avocado Salad
Chicken Caesar Salad
(a few without the chicken for vegetarians)
50/1/50 Sliders (Kobe style beef, bacon and a little habanero pepper) w/side salad
Chicken Sandwich w/side salad
BLT w/side salad

Supporting Local Healthcare Workers

Our hearts go out to all who have been impacted by the horrible COVID-19 virus…….especially our health care providers.

It’s times like these that give us the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We know so many of you kind-hearted folks wish you could get out and help in some way, and we believe at this time, showing our support, appreciation, and love towards the ones fighting this virus is the thing to do.

With that being said, we wanted to send a message of gratitude by showing that we are thinking of the courageous heroes on the front line. In March, donations from POW members made it possible for us to deliver 100 healthy, fresh, individually wrapped meals from Bennett’s to the ER department of Kaiser Roseville. They were so appreciative and moved by your kindness. POW fed approximately….

60 nurses
10 doctors
10 Techs
10 Security Guards
5 housekeepers
5 clerks

Keep in mind, housekeepers and security guards are usually left out of these acts of kindness. We made sure they got meals and were included and shown appreciation!

As long as you keep the donations coming, we will continue to put smiles on our heroes faces!

Oh and we covered our vegans, vegetarian, meat eaters, salad lovers, etc. ❤️ Visit our donations page if you’d like to help us provide more meals to our local healthcare workers!

Third Quarter Meeting Focuses on Children

The third quarter meeting of 2019 was held at Bennett’s Kitchen and focused on children’s services. We had three amazing charities – My Mother’s Voice, All About Hope and CCHAT Center. Thank you to everyone who attended and donated to these worthy causes!

Q1 Meeting Raises Funds for Camp Fire Families

Our first quarter meeting of 2019 was held at Oak Water Bistro and focused on raising funds for three families that had been impacted by the Camp Fire: Tiffany and David took in five of David’s younger siblings after his family lost everything in the fire and his mom was unable to care for the children. Amanda is a single mom who had to move to our area with her four kids to live with a friend after she lost her home in the area. The Kogut family also lost their home in the fire and were living in hotels with their two kids. Thanks to the generosity of POW members, each of these families was able to find better living situations and much-needed help for rebuilding their lives after the devastating fires.

Our fourth quarter meeting was held November 15 at Flame and Fire Brazilian Steakhouse in Roseville and focused on first responders, which was particularly timely with the Camp Fire on everyone’s minds. Not only did members generously give to the Firefighter Burn Institute, PCLEC and the 10-35 Foundation , but you also answered the call to action and brought in car loads of donations and over $2,400 in gift cards and cash for the families that have been displaced by the Camp Fire. Thank you to everyone for making 2018 a tremendous success. Our total donations for the year were $78,005! You are all amazing! Q3 Meeting Brings Annual Donations to $54,940

After three meetings so far this year, Power of Women’s year-to-date donations to local charities has reached almost $55,000! Thank you to everyone who has made this possible. The third quarter meeting at House of Oliver focused on supporting local charities that are fighting to end human trafficking. Three charities gave presentations about how their organizations are working to help trafficking victims and end this scourge in our community. The groups were Blue Heart International, Stand Up Placer, and Three Strands Global Foundation. Thank you to everyone who attended and donated!

There are so many amazing charitable organizations in this area that we feel honored to be selected as the winner. We will continue to work to support all of the great groups that serve our community. Together we can make a difference. Thank you to everyone who voted!

Q2 Meeting Brings Tears and Donations

Our second quarter meeting of 2018 was an emotional one, with three cancer charities giving presentations about how their organizations help cancer patients and their families through difficult times. The meeting was held at RANGE Kitchen and Tap in Roseville. Wellness Within, Lily Chiquet Strength Foundation, and Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance were the three nonprofit recipients of the evening, and after hearing from the organizations, including an emotional account from a mother whose young daughter died of cancer, our members were in tears and dug into their wallets to make generous contributions to all three organizations. Once again, we exceeded our quarterly goal of raising $10k for charity, raising more than $12k and bringing our total year-to-date donations to $31,000! First Quarter Meeting Raises Over $11k for Seniors

Our first quarter meeting of 2018, held at Ciao! in Roseville, focused on seniors. And once again we exceeded our goals! Representatives from Auburn Senior Center, Legal Services of Northern California, and Placer Independent Resource Services all spoke about the ways in which their organizations help seniors in our community, and the three charities walked away with $11,900 to continue serving seniors in this area. Thank you to everyone who attended and donated to these worthy causes!

4th Quarter Meeting a Big Success

Our fourth quarter meeting at Hawks Restaurant was another success, as we raised an amazing $19,950 for Acres of Hope, Volunteers of America, and Family Promise and also collected socks for the homeless. Thanks to the generosity of our members, all of the organizations went away with checks to continue their mission of helping others.

Special Fundraiser Helps California Fire Victims

The California wildfires have devastated the lives of many people, so POW held a special fundraiser to help out. Thanks to Studio Movie Grill in Rocklin for holding a private screening of “Bad Moms 2” for us. We raised $4,822.50 for North Bay Fire Relief Fund
and had a lot of fun doing it!

Third Quarter Meeting Exceeds Goal Again!

Once again our amazing members helped us exceed our quarterly goal of donating $10k to local charities! Our August meeting was held at the beautiful Casque Wines in Loomis and focused on animal service organizations. We heard from Placer SPCA, RRUFF Healing Heroes, and Gold Country Wildlife Rescue.

By the end of the night, these wonderful organizations walked away with $14,825 to help them continue the great work that they do.

Second Quarter Meeting Raises Nearly $20,000!

Our second meeting of 2017 was even more phenomenal than the first one, as we raised nearly $20,000 for charity. We met at Cibo 7 restaurant in Roseville and heard from three great local organizations that focus on disabilities: A Touch of Understanding, Ride to Walk, and Directing Change. By the end of the evening we had raised $19,050.00 for these organizations!

Our First Event Was a Success!

Thanks to the generosity of our Power Of 100 Women members, our initial meeting was a huge success. We exceeded our quarterly goal of $10k and raised nearly $15k in one night for three worthy charities!

The three nonprofit organizations – CASA, which supports children in the foster care system; Kids First, which works to end child abuse and neglect; and Koinonia Family Services, which provides foster care, adoption and family service programs – walked away with checks that evening to continue their great efforts in our community. Koinonia also received a surprise donation. When the presenter mentioned that one of the services they provide is braces for foster children, member Helen Tsibel jumped in and said her husband Garri Tsibel, an orthodontist in Roseville, could donate a set of braces (valued at $4500) to a deserving child.

Our first meeting was profiled in Style Magazine, which ran a short article with photos from the event.

The Power of Women would like to thank Paul Martin’s American Grill for hosting the event and providing a great meal. We look forward to doing it again in May and raising money for more great charities!
